6th Grade Ancient Egypt Project

In 6th Grade Tech and Social Studies, we have been very busy learning all about Ancient Egypt.  For the 6th graders technology project, they were asked to chose a topic regarding Ancient Egypt they were interested in, research important facts and details, dig deep and find some generally unknown facts, then create a digital project to share their learning with everyone.

Many students chose to create some type of movie.  Some used a Green Screen background and filmed themselves to really put themselves into the Ancient Egypt environment.  Other students used modeling clay, Legos, or Barbies to create Stop Motion movies.  A few of these students used a combination of Green Screen and Stop Motion together to create a really interesting project. Most students were able to do final editing using iMovie for a finished product.

 Other students decided to use different apps or websites to create their project.  The app ChatterKids by Duck Duck Moose was a great option for a few students who gave a voice to an image to do the teaching for us.  Another website that was used was Smore.  This was a great way for students to show their research in writing, adding images, and videos to teach us about their topic.

The 6th graders at Postville worked really hard the past few weeks to create this project as a way to share their learning with their classmates and teachers.  If you are able, please check out their projects and leave some comments for them!

Pyramid of Giza by Bryan

Bryan created a poster to share information he learned about the Great Pyramid of Giza.

Mummification by Olivia and Skylar

Olivia and Skylar used Barbies and clay to create a stop motion movie that explains the mummification process from Ancient Egypt.

Ancient Egypt by Brandon and Tanner

Brandon and Tanner created a Lego Stop Motion movie. They did their editing in iMovie and recorded the audio using Garageband.

Pyramids of Giza by Carlos

Carlos created a Smore to show many different facts about the Pyramid of Giza.

Cleopatra and Mummification by Emily and Jenna

Emily and Jenna created a movie that will inform you about Cleopatra's life as well as reenact the mummification process that she went through.

Pyramid Building by Javier and Abas

Javier and Abas created a Lego Stop Motion film to show how the pyramids may have been built in Ancient Egyptian times.

Ancient Egyptian Funeral Boats by Collin

Collin created a Lego Stop Motion movie which also used a Green Screen background.  His movie shows what Ancient Egyptians did after a body was mummified.

Mummification by Jose and Dennis

Jose and Dennis used modeling clay to explain the mummification process used in Ancient Egypt. They also added a Green Screen background to their project.

Lilaaf and Najmo explain Jewelry, Clothing, and Makeup

Ancient Egyptian Clothing, Jewelry, and Makeup was much different than it is today.  Najmo and Lilaaf used a Google Slides presentation to explain what it was like back then.

Cleopatra by Kim and Kelleigh

Cleopatra is played by Kelleigh and she is being interview by Kim in order to help us learn more about her life a female Pharaoh.

King Tut by Logan and Abdi

Logan and Abdi used ChatterPix to have King Tut tell you all about his life.  They recorded their information in two videos.  Please watch both.

Ancient Egyptian Transportation by Chris

Chris used the Green Screen app from DoInk to record himself and his outgoing personality sharing information about the different types of Transportation in Ancient Egypt.

Laura's iMovie and ChatterPix of Ancient Egyptian Gods

Laura chose to research and learn about eight different Gods and Goddesses that were important to Ancient Egyptians. After researching and gathering information, she found pictures to represent each god and used her voice to have them explain who they were and why they were important to Ancient Egypt.

Amran worked on a Smore to explain how Ancient Egyptians dressed, wore makeup, and jewelry.

Kat and Jacky's Ancient Egypt Project

Kat and Jacky looked up information about how Ancient Egyptian women wore their hair and did their makeup for their project.  The created a Green Screen movie to tell us all about it.

Ancient Egyptian Gods by Violet

Violet chose to research a few of the most important Egyptian Gods/Goddesses from Ancient Times.  In her video you will be able to hear from the Gods themselves as they share with you facts and information about themselves.

Zarha's Ancient Egypt Project

This project was created by Zahra in 6th grade.  She researched King Tut and is showing what she learned by creating a Smore.
